$REI is the ecosystem token of REI and Unit 00. It has been part of the project from the beginning and will remain central to its economic layer.

Why tokenization

We believe in the decentralization ethos: open participation, transparent coordination, user-controlled digital assets, and systems that can extend beyond one company or product. We believe tokenization is maturing into infrastructure for programmable ownership, exchange, and settlement, and will play a major role in the future of capital markets. Tokenization can give assets and economic rights clearer provenance, programmable transfer, shared settlement, and independently auditable records. That model fits the economy we want around learned systems. $REI is intended to remain central to access, ownership, attribution, and exchange across that layer.

Tokenized knowledge and instance markets

Enterprise customers can run Core instances over valuable data and let them accumulate useful knowledge and task structure through use. We plan marketplaces where owners can offer access to those instances or publish selected knowledge, learned structures, and inspectable traces for others to use. Only material that an owner chooses to make available will enter these markets. Access to instances and exchange of published artifacts are planned to settle in $REI. This gives instance owners a way to capture value from useful machine work while retaining control over what they share.

Revenue and future clarity

Revenue-funded $REI buybacks also remain part of our plans. We believe important ecosystem activity should be transparent and independently auditable. As these systems develop, we intend marketplace settlement, relevant treasury activity, and buybacks to have clear onchain records. These marketplaces and the buyback program are planned systems. They are not live today. In the future, we will publish the exact legal and technical structure connecting Rei Labs as a company and $REI. That structure will treat $REI as part of the company’s ownership architecture, not as a subordinate access token or a fractional claim beneath a separate superior ownership layer. We will also disclose how treasury management, marketplace revenue flows, and buyback mechanics connect to that structure.

What does this mean?

For us, tokenization is all or nothing. $REI cannot become an inferior access layer beneath a separate ownership structure, or a fractional substitute for rights held elsewhere. If it is part of Rei Labs’ future, it must mature with the company and remain part of the primary economic relationship. We believe a mature Web3 industry can make ownership, value flows, treasury activity, and economic participation substantially more transparent and auditable than traditional private markets. Building toward that model is a long-term bet Rei Labs is willing to make.

Tokenomics

The public donation event was held in November 2024. It raised 120 ETH and distributed 540,000,000 REI to participants. That support helped the project continue building and reach its current stage. All distributed tokens were fully unlocked. Protocol-owned liquidity was seeded and locked on Uniswap for one year. In November 2025, it was fully migrated to Aerodrome and locked there. See the Aerodrome announcement. The team allocation had a six-month lock followed by six months of linear vesting. It has been fully vested since November 2025. The Other Treasury allocation is reserved for purposes that can include liquidity support and partnerships.
